Dear VNA:

Recently my family requested help so that my elderly mother could leave the rest home and attend her class reunion at a nearby restaurant. Although a family member would accompany her, we did not feel capable of lifting or moving her out of her wheelchair. We did not expect the worker to perform any other tasks. “Sandy” was waiting patiently in the lobby of the restaurant when we arrived and greeted us in a friendly manner. She was very pleasant to my mother and the other guests. Although she was informed she could sit nearby and be on call if needed, she elected to sit right next to my mom and help her choose and eat her meal and converse with her which can sometimes be difficult due to my mother’s hearing loss and physical weakness. She was extremely helpful and personable. Her assistance allowed me to move about the room taking pictures of the other guests for my mother to enjoy later and not worry about spills, etc. Sandy stayed by my mother’s side the entire time and made her feel very comfortable. She also safely maneuvered her when she needed to. In addition, she would not accept a well-deserved gratuity. Sandy is a fabulous employee with a wonderful personality. We would not hesitate to hire her again or recommend her to others due to her friendliness, honesty, work ethic, and capability.
Sincerely,
Jane Dean
